As I’ve mentioned before, I loves me some Stack Exchange. And I loves me some Bicycles Stack Exchange in particular.
A week or so ago, I received an email announcing that, due to my triumph in the moderator election, I was entitled to moderator business cards. I furiously filled out the relevant forms and eagerly awaited my cards.
I scanned them into a jpg, but it really doesn’t do the cards justice. They’re similar in feel to a playing card. very thick with a woven texture to the paper and a glossy, waxed finish. And, boy, I tell you this scanner sucks. The transition on the lighter side of the card is much subtler than the picture but the color on the darker side is more vibrant. It barely shows up in the photo, but there’s a twill-like pattern on the darker side of the cards that is just stunning. Patrick Bateman would be so jealous.
These marvels of self-promotional craftsmanship were produced by a printing company called MOO. They’re printed on 100% recycled paper, which is pretty cool. I’ll definitely be keeping them in mind when I finally get around to printing my own web developer business cards.
And the quantity! They didn’t mention how many they would be sending me, so I was expecting a paltry amount, a mere token of their appreciation. After all, these are really just a gimmick. I mean, who is going to give them out? I’m honestly not sure if I will. But they sent me 50! I could wallpaper a room with them and still have some leftover! I could pave the interstate from one end of the state to the other! I could cover the surface of a small moon! Ok, I exaggerate. But it’s still a lot. It’s more than I’m likely to hand out. Maybe I’ll do something crafty with them.
They came in a pretty fancy box too.
